THE SHORTS PROJECT: 1974

 April: Formation of YELLOW BRICK ROADSHOW in Melbourne, Victoria. Rehearsals begin on SHORTS a collection of 15 short plays for lunchtime performances around Victorian tertiary institutions.

May: First performances of SHORTS at Melbourne tertiary institutions and at the Maydaze festival, Melbourne University (6),

June: SHORTS at Melbourne tertiary institutions (10)

July: Rehearsal re-commences for the SHORTS Project. Major cast & structural changes. Repertoire enlarges to thirty short plays and smaller pieces. Cast increases to 7. The SHORTS Project becomes the major performance activity of Yellow Brick Roadshows:

August: Rehearsals continue for the SHORTS Project. Try-out performances for a schools version of the project in schools in Melbourne (3) and tertiary and adult areas (4) The SHORTS project on tour to Bendigo – tertiary and school performances (6).

September: Repertoire enlarges to fifty short plays. Tasmanian touring. Performance of the SHORTS Project for Q.P. audiences at 63 Salamanca Place (8), schools (6) and tertiary (6) Ballarat performances of the SHORTS project (4)  COMPANY BUSTED. First performances at the East End Market, Melbourne. Action takes place both in the shop window for passers-by and inside or shoppers. (5)

October: The SHORTS project at ‘EVENTS/STRUCTURES’ – a performance art exhibition at the Ewing Gallery. Melbourne. East End Market performances continue (4) Pram Factory (Back Theatre) season of the SHORTS project (23). Frankston, Geelong, Ballarat and Melbourne performances conclude 1974 activity (6)

November: Major company re-arrangement and re-structuring. Division into two separate projects. – the KIDS project for 5 – 15 year olds and the SHORTS project.
